About this trip

This is the Goa trip for couples who have already done the weekend version and want a little more room in it.

A pool villa rather than a room, four nights rather than three, and one full day spent inland where the state is green and almost nobody goes.

The Ayurvedic treatment is a proper 90-minute synchronised massage rather than a spa menu item, at a centre we have used for years.

  • Private pool villa two minutes from a quiet South Goa beach
  • Ayurvedic couples treatment — 90 minutes, synchronised
  • Spice plantation day inland with a traditional Goan lunch
  • Private candlelit dinner on the sand
  • Sunset river cruise on the Sal

Day by day

A working outline rather than a fixed schedule. Every day can be moved, and at least one is deliberately left empty.

  1. 1

    Day 1

    Arrive and settle in

Transfer to the villa. Everything from here is within walking distance — the beach, two shacks and not much else, which is the idea.

    • Airport transfer
    • Cake and turndown on arrival

    Stay: Private pool villa

  2. 2

    Day 2

    Ayurveda and the pool

A slow morning, then a 90-minute synchronised Ayurvedic treatment for two in the afternoon, followed by an hour of rest that is part of the treatment rather than an add-on.

    • 90-minute Ayurvedic couples treatment

    Meals: breakfastStay: Private pool villa

  3. 3

    Day 3

    Inland through the spice country

An hour inland to Ponda. A walk through a working plantation — pepper, vanilla, nutmeg, cardamom — and a Goan thali served on a banana leaf. Back to the coast by mid-afternoon.

    • Working spice plantation walk
    • Traditional Goan lunch

Meals: breakfast, lunchStay: Private pool villa

  4. 4

    Day 4

River, then dinner on the sand

A sunset cruise on the Sal river through the mangroves, then a private dinner set up on the beach with lanterns once the shacks have closed.

    • Sunset river cruise
    • Private beach dinner

Meals: breakfast, dinnerStay: Private pool villa

  5. 5

    Day 5

    Home

Late checkout requested, then the transfer to the airport.

    Meals: breakfast

Before you book

Important information

  • Prices are per couple on twin sharing and are indicative — final pricing is confirmed against live availability for your dates.
  • Peak periods (Christmas, New Year and long weekends) carry a mandatory gala dinner supplement set by the property.
  • Hotels listed are the properties we normally book. If one is unavailable we substitute a comparable alternative and tell you before you pay.
  • Standard check-in is 2pm and checkout is 11am. Early check-in and late checkout are requested but never guaranteed.
  • Carry a valid photo ID for every traveller. International trips need a passport valid for at least six months beyond your return date.
  • The Ayurvedic treatment includes a short consultation. Tell us in advance about pregnancy, recent surgery or blood-pressure medication.
  • The spice plantation runs rain or shine but the walk is on uneven ground — closed shoes are worth packing.

Questions about this trip

Is a pool villa worth it over a resort room in Goa?
For a four-night anniversary, usually yes. It roughly doubles the time you actually spend at the property, which is where most of this trip happens.
How far inland is the spice plantation?
About an hour each way from South Goa. We schedule it as a half day so you are back at the coast well before sunset.

Before you go

Best time to visit Goa

November to February. Dry, warm and comfortable, with the sea at its calmest. October and March are quieter and cheaper with almost the same weather. June to September is monsoon — dramatic, green, and many beach shacks close.
