About this trip
This is the itinerary we book most often for honeymoons, and the split stay is the reason. Two nights in a beach villa lets you arrive, sleep properly and find the house reef. The three overwater nights that follow land differently once you already know the island.
The resort sits in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve about thirty minutes by seaplane from Malé. The flight itself is one of the highlights of the trip — low enough over the atolls to see the reef edges and the colour changes clearly.
Beyond the two arranged experiences — a sandbank dinner and a sunset dolphin cruise — the days are deliberately left open. Most couples spend them snorkelling before breakfast and doing almost nothing after it.

A working outline rather than a fixed schedule. Every day can be moved, and at least one is deliberately left empty.

Day 1
Arrive Malé, seaplane to the atoll
Met inside the terminal and walked to the seaplane lounge. The flight north takes about thirty minutes and lands on a platform beside the island, where the resort team meets you by boat. Check in, then the rest of the day is yours.

Day 2
The house reef
A resident marine biologist takes you out over the house reef mid-morning, when the light is good and the fish are moving. Beginners start in waist-deep water; equipment and a buoyancy vest are provided. The afternoon is open.

Day 3
Move overwater
Move to the overwater villa after breakfast — a deck over the lagoon, a ladder into it and an outdoor shower. In the evening, a dhoni takes you out along the reef edge for the sunset dolphin cruise.

Day 4
Sandbank dinner
A completely open day. At sunset a boat takes you to a sandbank a few minutes off the island, where a single table has been set with lanterns. A chef and a waiter come with you; nobody else does.

Nothing scheduled
The day we deliberately leave empty. Options if you want them: a sunrise fishing dhoni, a couples treatment at the overwater spa, or a dive for certified divers. Most couples take none of them.

Seaplane back to Malé
Late breakfast, then the seaplane back to Malé timed against your onward flight. Day-use rooms can be arranged if there is a long wait.

Before you book
Important information
- Prices are per couple on twin sharing and are indicative — final pricing is confirmed against live availability for your dates.
- Peak periods (Christmas, New Year and long weekends) carry a mandatory gala dinner supplement set by the property.
- Hotels listed are the properties we normally book. If one is unavailable we substitute a comparable alternative and tell you before you pay.
- Standard check-in is 2pm and checkout is 11am. Early check-in and late checkout are requested but never guaranteed.
- Carry a valid photo ID for every traveller. International trips need a passport valid for at least six months beyond your return date.
- Seaplanes operate in daylight only. Flights arriving into Malé after 3pm may require an overnight stay at an airport hotel, which we will arrange and quote separately.
- Green Tax and service charge are included in the price shown. Resort marine excursions booked on the island are charged in USD.
Questions about this trip
Why split the stay between two villa types?
A beach villa is easier to settle into on arrival, and the overwater nights feel more special once you already know the island. The split also lands roughly 15% below five straight overwater nights.
What happens if our flight lands too late for the seaplane?
Seaplanes only fly in daylight. If your arrival is after roughly 3pm we book a night at an airport hotel in Malé and put you on the first flight the next morning — quoted upfront, never sprung on you.
Is half board enough or should we upgrade?
Half board covers breakfast and dinner, which suits most couples since lunch is usually light after a morning in the water. If you plan to drink through the day, full all-inclusive works out cheaper.
Can we add a spa treatment or a dive course?
Yes. Both can be pre-booked so slots are held, or arranged on the island. Pre-booking is worth it for the overwater treatment rooms, which go quickly.

November to April. The dry north-east monsoon brings flat seas, reliable sunshine and the best underwater visibility of the year. May to October is greener, quieter and noticeably cheaper, with short sharp showers rather than all-day rain.
