Dubai Skyline & Desert

Four nights, two very different halves of the same city

About this trip

Dubai is the easiest international trip to actually take. Three and a half hours in the air, an e-visa that clears in a few days, and no internal travel once you land.

The itinerary alternates deliberately — a big city day, then a quiet one. The desert evening is private rather than a shared camp, which is the single change that makes the most difference to how the trip feels.

It also works as a two-night stopover if you are heading further west. Ask us and we will restructure it.

  • Four nights downtown, walking distance from the fountains
  • Sunset slot at the Burj Khalifa observation deck
  • Private desert drive with a candlelit dinner on your own dune
  • Old Dubai walking morning — abra crossing, spice and gold souks
  • Marina dhow cruise with dinner and the skyline lit end to end

Day by day

A working outline rather than a fixed schedule. Every day can be moved, and at least one is deliberately left empty.

  1. 1

    Day 1

Arrive, and the fountains after dark

Private transfer to the hotel. If the day is done, walk down to the fountain plaza — it runs every half hour after sunset and costs nothing.

    • Private airport transfer
    • Fountain show

    Stay: Downtown Dubai

  2. 2

    Day 2

Old Dubai, then the top of the new one

A guided morning through the creek quarter — the spice and gold souks, and an abra across the water for one dirham. Back to the hotel for the afternoon, then the sunset slot at the observation deck.

    • Guided old Dubai walk
    • Abra crossing
    • Burj Khalifa at sunset

    Meals: breakfastStay: Downtown Dubai

  3. 3

    Day 3

    Into the desert

Free until mid-afternoon, then a 4x4 into the Al Marmoom reserve. Dune driving while the light drops, then dinner at a single table set on your own dune, with the camp somewhere else entirely.

    • Private dune drive
    • Candlelit dinner for two in the desert
    • Stargazing after dinner

    Meals: breakfast, dinnerStay: Downtown Dubai

  4. 4

    Day 4

    Beach day and the marina

A beach club afternoon looking across at the sail hotel, then a dhow cruise through the marina with dinner on board as the towers light up.

    • Beach club access
    • Marina dhow dinner cruise

    Meals: breakfast, dinnerStay: Downtown Dubai

  5. 5

    Day 5

    Home

Breakfast and a private transfer to the airport, roughly twenty minutes from downtown.

    Meals: breakfast

Before you book

Important information

  • Prices are per couple on twin sharing and are indicative — final pricing is confirmed against live availability for your dates.
  • Peak periods (Christmas, New Year and long weekends) carry a mandatory gala dinner supplement set by the property.
  • Hotels listed are the properties we normally book. If one is unavailable we substitute a comparable alternative and tell you before you pay.
  • Standard check-in is 2pm and checkout is 11am. Early check-in and late checkout are requested but never guaranteed.
  • Carry a valid photo ID for every traveller. International trips need a passport valid for at least six months beyond your return date.
  • UAE e-visas typically take 3–4 working days. Apply at least two weeks before departure.
  • Modest dress is expected in souks, malls and older quarters — shoulders and knees covered.
  • The desert drive is not recommended during pregnancy or with back or neck conditions. A no-dune-bashing version with the same dinner is available on request.

Questions about this trip

Is four nights enough for Dubai?
Comfortably. Four covers the city, the desert and a beach day. A fifth night lets you add Abu Dhabi and the Grand Mosque without cutting anything.
What is the difference between a private and a shared desert safari?
A shared safari takes you to a camp with a buffet and a stage show. The private version gives you your own vehicle, your own dune and a single table. It costs more and is the thing couples remember.
When should we avoid Dubai?
June to September, when daytime temperatures regularly exceed 42°C and outdoor time becomes difficult. November to March is ideal.

Before you go

Best time to visit Dubai

November to March. Winter is the whole point. Days sit in the mid-twenties, evenings are perfect for terraces and the desert is comfortable rather than punishing. June to September is extremely hot and best avoided unless you are chasing hotel rates.
